“The Kick Of Death” Jeka Saragih Practices In The US Ahead Of Road To UFC Abu Dhabi
JAKARTA - This month's Indonesian MMA athlete Jeka Saragih will undergo intensive training in San Diego, United States, in preparation for the Road to UFC fight in Abu Dhabi, next October.
Jeka Saragih, who went down to the lightweight class, will face South Korean fighter Ki Won Bin in the Road to UFC semifinal match.
The fighter nicknamed “The Kick of Death” previously won by KO over Indian fighter Pawaan Maan in the opening round of Road to UFC in Singapore, last June.
If Jeka wins the fight in Abu Dhabi later, he is entitled to qualify for the final and open the opportunity to get a contract to appear in the UFC event so that he becomes the first MMA athlete from Indonesia to compete in the biggest MMA championship in the world.
While in the US, Jeka will be trained directly by Marc Fiore from Team Wrestling USA who is experienced in producing tough fighters and even UFC champions. Fiore will be assisted by Jacob Buracker, a ju jitsu black belt, who will also manage the entire training program.
Meanwhile, Jeka admitted that he had started to prepare for training in Indonesia before leaving for the US with his coach this weekend.
"So far, I've been preparing for training, it's not too serious, but I've been practicing normally," said Jeka as quoted by Antara, Friday.
"I will make the most of this opportunity... if God allows I hope I can win in Abu Dhabi."
