KPK Reminds Regional Heads Not To Justify All Ways To Get Fair Opinions Without Exceptions
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has reminded local governments that they do not need to justify any means to obtain an unqualified opinion (WTP) from the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK).
Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission Alexander Marwata said without this predicate, local governments would not go bankrupt or be given a budget. The BPK's assessment is only limited to the fairness of the financial statements.
"Don't then struggle with various ways to get WTP opinions, what are WTP opinions? Even without WTP opinions, local governments are not bankrupt or not given a budget. This is only an assessment of the fairness of financial statements," said Alexander in the KPK RI YouTube show, Friday, August 19.
Alexander also asked local governments not to accept requests for money from BPK auditors. "Please, so that if there is a request for money like this, it will not be served," he said.
"Report immediately to the BPK Inspectorate so that action can also be taken for rogue auditors," continued Alexander.
Furthermore, Alexander revealed that usually this unqualified opinion cannot be obtained by institutions or local governments because of administrative irregularities. However, this can actually be corrected in the following fiscal year.
"So don't be afraid. This year, if you don't get a WTP, you don't have to be afraid. It doesn't collapse because you don't get a WTP opinion," he said.
"KPK has received a fair opinion with a record. Well, I don't mind passing it on to BPK friends. If it's a professional opinion, please. So what, so that we at KPK can correct what BPK friends have recorded in the following year," added Alexander.
Previously reported, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) named four employees of the South Sulawesi BPK Representative as suspects for accepting bribes related to the examination of financial statements.
The four are the Head of the Southeast Sulawesi BPK Representative or the former Head of the South Sulawesi I BPK South Sulawesi Provincial Representative Office Head Andi Sonny; examiner at BPK Representative of South Sulawesi Province Yohanes Binur Haryanto Manik; former First Examiner of BPK Representative of South Sulawesi Province or Head of Subdivision of Public Relations and Administration of BPK Representative of South Sulawesi Wahid Ikhsan Wahyudin; and examiner at BPK Representative of South Sulawesi Gilang Gumilar.
Meanwhile, as the giver is the Secretary of the PUTR Office of South Sulawesi Province, Edy Rahmat. In this case, the financial audit findings were manipulated.
From this fraudulent practice, money came from contractors who won the project in the 2020 fiscal year. The KPK detailed that the money received by the four BPK employees reached Rp2.8 billion in stages.
Then Andi also received Rp 100 million which he later used to take care of his promotion as Head of the BPK Representative.
Meanwhile, Edy as the giver also received a share of Rp. 324 million. Later, the KPK will trace where the money went.
