Full Of Innovation, Bank Indonesia Ensures New 2022 Issued Money Is Hard To Counterfeit
JAKARTA – Bank Indonesia stated that the launch of seven new banknotes for the year 2022 was accompanied by a number of new advantages to maintain the authenticity of their circulation.
Head of the BI Communications Department Erwin Haryono said there are at least three advantages in this new currency. First, a sharper color design.
Two, a more reliable safety element. And the third is better material resistance.
"Innovation is intended to make rupiah currency easier to recognize for its authenticity, comfortable, and safe to use, and more difficult to counterfeit so that rupiah currency is more qualified and reliable and becomes a common pride as a symbol of the sovereignty of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia," he said in a press statement on Thursday. According to Erwin, the issuance and circulation of money for the year 2022 is one of the implementations of the mandate of the Currency Law as part of planning to meet the needs of the community while still implementing good governance in accordance with applicable regulations.
Erwin added that the issuance of this latest medium of exchange did not have the impact of revocation and/or withdrawal of previously issued rupiah currency.
"All Rupiah banknotes and coins that have been previously issued are declared to remain valid as legal tender throughout the territory of the Republic of Indonesia as long as they have not been revoked and withdrawn from circulation by Bank Indonesia," he stressed.
This is based on the Currency Law, the revocation and withdrawal of rupiah currency from circulation are placed in the State Gazette of the Republic of Indonesia and announced through the mass media.
Furthermore, the spending of money for the 2022 emission year coincides with the momentum of the 77th Indonesian Independence Day which is said to be a manifestation of the spirit of nationalism, nationalism, and sovereignty to foster optimism for the recovery of the national economy.
Meanwhile, the new money in question consists of banknotes of Rp. 100,000, Rp. 50,000, Rp. 20,000, Rp. 10,000, Rp. 5,000, Rp. 2,000, and Rp. 1,000.
“The public can make this new exchange through banking or mobile cash provided by Bank Indonesia. In addition, exchange orders through mobile cash are carried out through the official Bank Indonesia application," concluded Erwin.
