Redwire Will Launch Greenhouse Project In Space In Spring 2023
JAKARTA - Redwire Corporation announced on Tuesday, August 16 that it will launch its first commercial space greenhouse in Spring next year to enhance research on extraterrestrial plant production and support exploration missions.
"This space infrastructure company project will help provide critical insights for the Artemis mission from NASA and beyond," Dave Reed, Redwire's manager for the greenhouse project, told Reuters.
The Artemis program of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) aims to send astronauts to the moon and establish a colony on the moon in the long term as a precursor to human exploration of Mars.
According to Redwire, commercial agricultural technology company Dewey Scientific will be the company's first customer. They also stated that the project would improve humans' ability to grow crops in space.
The company's products include a fully automated plant growth system for conducting research on the International Space Station.
