Indian PM Narendra Modi Call Biden Congratulations

JAKARTA - The Prime Minister (PM) of India, Narendra Modi finally congratulated him in person by telephone to the President-elect of the United States (US), Joe Biden on Wednesday, November 18. The congratulations were carried out as a form of strengthening strategic relations between the two countries.

The spokesman for the Indian Foreign Ministry revealed that Modi's phone calls were nothing but a form of India respecting the democratic traditions in the US, launching Reuters on Wednesday, November 18. Modi even promised to deepen the cooperation between the two countries after Biden officially won the US presidential election.

"Prime Minister Modi warmly congratulates President-elect Biden on his victory. It is a token of appreciation for the strength and resilience of the democratic tradition in the US."

During the phone call, Modi also expressed his best wishes to the Indian descendant who was the representative of Joe Biden, Kamala Haris. Modi said that Kamala's election made Indians feel proud. Furthermore, the two leaders also discussed several other matters. especially regarding how to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic, regarding vaccines, and climate change.

Previously, Modi was known to have a close relationship with the current US President, Donald Trump. In fact, the two leaders seemed to visit each other frequently. For example, Modi visited Trump when he visited Houston last year. Meanwhile, Trump visited Gujarat several months ago.
