The Indonesian Embassy In London Guarantees The Financial Rights Of Seasonal Migrant Workers Who Work On British Plantations
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Embassy in London ensures protection for seasonal migrant workers from Indonesia who work on plantations in the UK.
Previously, it was reported that a number of seasonal migrant workers from Indonesia who worked on plantations in the Kent region of England experienced difficulties, including in terms of fulfilling their financial rights.
The seasonal migrant workers are said to have left for the UK with the services of unlicensed foreign brokers in Indonesia, as stated in a statement from the Indonesian Embassy in London on Wednesday, August 17, quoted from Antara.
The Indonesian Embassy in London then intervened to ensure the fulfillment of the rights of Indonesian migrant workers in the UK.
The Indonesian Embassy has taken a number of integrated steps with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Manpower, and BP2MI, one of which is to directly review and dialogue with Indonesian migrant workers who work on plantations in the UK.
In addition, the Indonesian Embassy in London also visited and discussed with plantation owners and management, formed a special task force for the Indonesian Embassy to handle seasonal migrant workers, and escorted the repatriation of migrant workers at the end of the contract period.
