JAKARTA - Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly handed over general remission in 2022 for 168,196 Correctional Inmates (WBP). There were 2,725 inmates of whom were immediately released.

The handover of the remission was carried out in a series of ceremonies to commemorate the 77th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Kuningan, South Jakarta.

The delivery of the remission was attended by four inmates who were representatives of the recipients of remission, namely MD (39) from the Class IIA Jakarta Detention Center, AA (26) from the Salemba Class IIA Prison, MFT (32) from the Class IIA Jakarta Prison, and AS (24) from the Salemba Class IIA Prison. .

The 2022 general remission consists of 166,191 RU I (partial reduction in criminal period) and 2,725 RU II (immediate release). There are three regions with the highest number of recipients of remissions, namely North Sumatra with 20,213 people, East Java with 16,851 people, and West Java with 15,768 people.

The granting of the 2022 general remission is also estimated to save WBP's food budget of Rp. 259,289,610,000.

The granting of remission is carried out in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations. Remission is a form of appreciation for those who have committed to participate in the coaching programs organized by the Correctional Technical Implementation Unit (UPT). They have been given mental, spiritual, and social provisions to be able to integrate in a healthy manner when they return to society.

In addition to giving remissions, in a series of activities at the independence ceremony, the Satyalancana Karya Satya award was also given to employees of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights for their service. The award is given to those who have served for 10 years, 20 years, up to 30 years.
