JAKARTA - The convict Vanessa Angel began serving a sentence that was preceded by 14 days of isolation at the Class IIA Women's Prison at Pondok Bambu, East Jakarta.
"Vanesza Adzania alias Vanessa is serving a criminal sentence at the Jakarta Women's Prison (Pondok Bambu) starting today," said the Head of Public Relations and Protocol of the Directorate General of Corrections at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Rika Aprianti in Jakarta, reported by Antara, Wednesday, November 18.
Vanessa surrendered to the West Jakarta Prosecutor's Office after receiving a criminal sentence in accordance with the Decision of the West Jakarta District Court in the case of Article 62 of RI Law No. 5 of 1997 on Psychotropics.
Based on the verdict of the panel of judges, Rika said, Vanessa was sentenced to three months in prison and a fine of IDR 10 million, a subsidiary of one month for drug abuse with three xanax pills as evidence.
"Admission is carried out by continuing to implement health protocols and the presence of negative swab test results. The person concerned is placed in a room for the environmental introduction period (Mapenaling) to carry out isolation for 14 days," he said.
Vanessa's mother-in-law, Dewi Zulianti, said Vanessa will serve the remaining 1.5 months of her sentence after previously serving a city detention period of 1.5 months.
"We did not make an appeal even though Vanessa actually objected because she had to leave her toddler child," he said.
Vanessa's arrival at Pondok Bambu Prison on Wednesday afternoon was accompanied by her husband and a lawyer.
Vanessa Angel is less than a year free from prison for prostitution in 2018.
He was charged with the Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE) Law so he had to stay in bars for five months at the Medaeng Detention Center in Surabaya.
However, this prostitution case ended with a verdict that Vanessa was not directly involved in the network.
