After Winda Earl, This Customer Lost IDR 72 Million In Maybank

JAKARTA - PT Bank Maybank Indonesia Tbk is back in the spotlight. After the loss of savings from e-sports athlete Winda Lunardi or Winda Earl worth IDR 22.8 billion, a similar case has now emerged.

A customer from Solo, Candraning Setyo, admitted that he lost his savings balance of IDR 72.65 million. Bank Maybank Indonesia spokesman Tommy Hersyaputera spoke on this matter.

He said that the transactions referred to in the news are transactions made via mobile (digital) banking and not transactions made at branches.

"Maybank Indonesia applies the high security standards of the digital banking system as regulated by the authorities to ensure the integrity and security of funds and customer transactions," he said, in a written statement received by VOI, Wednesday, November 18.

Tommy said that his party had conducted an investigation regarding the customer complaint that Maybank received since last June regarding the loss of funds of Rp72 million in bank accounts. The results show that there has been a movement of funds through customer mobile banking.

"Our investigations also show that the transaction of transferring funds from customer accounts to third parties is carried out according to the mechanism and has gone through the security features stipulated in transactions via mobile banking. The same mechanism and security features also apply in the banking industry in general," he said.

Furthermore, Tommy said, customers are always reminded to always maintain the confidentiality of their user ID and password as personal data that is owned and known only by the customer.

Tommy said customers are also asked to maintain the confidentiality of the transaction authorization code (TAC) which is only sent to the customer's cell phone number registered in the system.

"We need to remind you here so that customers using mobile (digital) banking always maintain the security of their cellular phone numbers, especially those registered in the mobile banking system as the number to which TAC is sent as a transaction verification code," he explained.

Even so, Tommy said, Maybank Indonesia is ready to assist customers and authorities, especially in providing information needed for the smooth investigation and resolution of these complaints.
