Dozens Of Former North Sumatra DPRD Members Will Be Tried In Connection With Corruption Cases
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) submitted evidence and 14 suspects who were former members of the North Sumatra DPRD to the Public Prosecutor.
Dozens of these people became suspects in bribery cases related to the functions and authorities of DPRD Members of North Sumatra Province 2009-2014 and / or 2014-2019.
"Today, after the case files are declared complete (P21), KPK investigators carry out phase II of the submission of suspects and evidence to the KPK prosecutors in cases of alleged corruption giving / receiving gifts related to the functions and authorities of the 2009-2014 and / or 2014- 2019, "said Acting KPK spokesman Ali Fikri in his statement in Jakarta, reported by Antara, Wednesday, November 18.
14 former members of the North Sumatra DPRD, namely Sudirman Halawa, Rahmad Pardamean Hasibuan, Nurhasanah, Megalia Agustina, Ida Budiningsih, Ahmad Hosein Hutagalung, Syamsul Hilal, and Robert Nainggolan.
Furthermore, Ramli, Serve Sinukaban, Japorman Saragih, Jamaluddin Hasibuan, Irwansyah Damanik, and Mulyani.
Ali said that the detention of the 14 people then became the authority of the Public Prosecutor (JPU) for 20 days from 18 November 2020 to 7 December 2020.
"Currently, each of them is still being detained at the KPK branch detention center as during the first detention by KPK investigators," said Ali.
Furthermore, within 14 working days, said Ali, the prosecutor will immediately compile the indictment and submit the case files to the Medan Corruption Court (Tipikor).
"The trial plan will be carried out at the Medan Corruption Court," he said.
In addition, he said that during the investigation process, 57 witnesses had been examined, including former North Sumatra Governor Gatot Pujo Nugroho and several former members of the North Sumatra DPRD.
Previously, the determination of 14 former members of the North Sumatra Provincial DPRD as suspects was the fourth stage.
The KPK has also processed 50 leadership elements and members of the North Sumatra Provincial DPRD for the period 2004-2009 and / or 2014-2019.
The 50 people are currently serving their respective sentences after being convicted by the Panel of Judges at the Tipikor Court with an average sentence of 4 to 6 years in prison.
The suspects allegedly received gifts or promises in the form of money which varied between Rp. 377,500,000 and Rp. 777,500,000 from Gatot Pujo Nugroho.
For their actions, 14 people were suspected of violating Article 12 letter a or letter b or Article 11 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 in conjunction with Article 64 paragraph (1) and Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st KUHP.
