Governor Of South Sulawesi Regarding Mattoanging Stadium: Imagine If There Is A FIFA-National Event, There Will Be An Economic Effect
MAKASSAR - The Governor of South Sulawesi (Sulsel) Nurdin Abdullah spoke about the rebuilding of the Andi Mattalatta Mattoanging Stadium in Makassar. After completion, Mattoanging Stadium is believed to have a positive impact on the South Sulawesi economy.
"Imagine if there is a national event, the President's championship, the League, plus FIFA also plays here, the hotel is full. If the hotel is full, the restaurant is full, that's the effect we will feel later," said Nurdin Abdullah in his remarks at the Focus Group Discussion. All parties, continued Governor Nurdin, are expected to support the construction process of the Mattoanging Stadium. The target to rebuild the stadium is expected to be completed in 18 months.
"Our task is how we succeed. In the near future we will auction the demolition, completed this month. After that we will auction to carry out physical construction, hopefully we can enjoy it in the next 18 months," he said.
When the construction of the Mattoanging Stadium is completed, this stadium will increase the driving force for economic growth in South Sulawesi. Moreover, the current economic conditions have been negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Secondly, we always hope this stadium is finished, adds one more to our facilities and that will encourage economic recovery," he added.
Meanwhile, Head of the Youth and Sports Service (Kadispora) of South Sulawesi, Andi Arwin Azis, added that the construction of the Mattoanging Stadium in Makassar is a priority program of the South Sulawesi Provincial Government. According to him, the governor is committed to sports facilities, especially football lovers.
"This is one of the priority programs of the South Sulawesi Provincial Government. This is also the effort of the Governor of South Sulawesi for all football lovers and this is to support achievements in football in South Sulawesi," he said.
Supported by DPRD SulselChairman of the DPRD of South Sulawesi, Andi Ina Kartika Sari, emphasized that he fully supports the development of the Mattoanging Stadium strategic project for the next 18 months. Although at first, he did not believe this project could be realized.
"I say that in early 2020, this discussion is a big question mark for us. We don't seem to believe that this can be achieved. However, by looking at the efforts of the South Sulawesi governor, thank God he is with enthusiasm trying to find out what the existing budget is needed. "For the construction of this project, it is then present without too much burden on the South Sulawesi Regional Budget," said Andi Ina.
He hopes that this strategic project will go according to the joint plan. According to him, the construction of the Mattoanging Stadium facility is a new source of pride for the people of South Sulawesi and Makassar City in particular.
"We hope this project will run well. God willing, it will be in accordance with the specified time, so that the people of South Sulawesi and of course PSM Makassar supporters feel the Mattoanging Stadium which is certainly no less competitive with those abroad," he said.
