Online Gambling Addiction, Youth From Tangerang In Bali Breaks Into Friends' Savings After Stealing ATM Cards, Arrested At Ngurah Rai Airport
DENPASAR - A young man named Ricky Agathan (22) from Tangerang, Banten, was arrested by the South Denpasar Police (Densel) team for trying to break into his friend's ATM card. The perpetrators were desperate to do this because they were addicted to online gambling.
"The method is easy theft because the suspect is the victim of a boarding house neighbor", said South Denpasar Police Chief Commissioner Made Teja Dwi Permana in a release at the Densel Police, Monday, August 15.
This case occurred at a boarding house on Jalan Betngandang, Sanur, South Denpasar, Bali, on Friday, August 12.
At that time, the victim asked the perpetrator to take the laundry. When asking for money to pay for laundry, the victim told the perpetrator to take it himself to the victim's room.
When the perpetrator took the money from the victim's bag, the perpetrator appeared to take the victim's ATM card.
The perpetrator then withdrew the victim's money three times until the victim finally found out from the notification on the cellphone.

The perpetrator did not return to the boarding house after stealing the contents of his friend's savings. The victim reported to the South Denpasar Police because he suffered a loss of IDR 5,250,000.
"Previously, the suspect was asked for help to withdraw money using the ATM card by the victim so that the suspect knew the victim's ATM pin", he added.
According to the victim's report, the police arrested the perpetrator at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali, when he was about to flee to Tangerang.
"The person concerned was arrested when he wanted to go to Jakarta to return to Tangerang to his parent's house. Furthermore, the perpetrator and the evidence were secured to the South Denpasar Police", he added.
"The money is for online gambling and (playing online gambling) recently", he said.
The perpetrator is charged with Article 362 of the Criminal Code concerning theft with a maximum imprisonment of 5 years.
