Appreciating The Performance Of The Police In Acting 49 Cases Of Subsidized Fuel Misappropriation, Pertamina: Very Important Because Of State Money And Community Rights

JAKARTA - Until early August 2022, Pertamina Patra Niaga recorded 49 cases of misuse of subsidized fuel. All of them have even been carried out by the police.

"Pertamina Patra Niaga really appreciates and supports the steps of the National Police to continue disclosing cases of misuse of subsidized fuel and take action against those who did these actions," said Pertamina Patra Niaga President Director, Alfian Nasution in a statement to the media, Monday 15 August.

Alfian appreciates law enforcement officers, namely the Indonesian National Police (Polri) in taking action on cases of misuse of subsidized fuel.

Alfian said that the crackdown on the misuse of subsidized fuel is very important because there is a state budget in this subsidized fuel.

"The subsidy budget in 2022 reaches more than IDR 500 trillion, there is state money and the rights of the people who are entitled to enjoy fuel at affordable prices in the subsidized fuel that we distribute," added Alfian.

According to information from the Head of BPH Migas, Erika Retnowati, until May 2022 alone, at least the volume of misuse of subsidized fuel has reached 257,455 liters. Of the total volume that was allegedly misappropriated, as many as 231,455 liters were proven to be a volume that met the criminal element.

Of the many cases of misuse of subsidized fuel, the most common mode is hoarding and smuggling subsidized fuel, purchasing subsidized fuel in jerry cans without a permit for resale, and selling subsidized fuel to industry players.

“The continued abuse of subsidized fuel encourages Pertamina Patra Niaga to continue to coordinate and synergize with various parties, this cannot be done alone. In addition to regulations, joint supervision is a way that needs to be done to anticipate the re-occurrence of misuse so that subsidized fuel is distributed properly," he said.
