How Was The Fate Of Joachim Low After Germany Were Beaten By Spain 6-0?
JAKARTA - Germany suffered a humiliating defeat to Spain in the UEFA Nations League on Wednesday, November 18. They were shaved six goals without reply, making it Die Mannschaft's worst defeat since being beaten by the same score by Austria in 1931 and by France (3-6) in 1958.
Der Panzer learned important lessons from the Spanish team in the match which took place in Seville. Ferran Torres scored a hat-trick against goalkeeper Manuel Neuer plus one goal each from Mikel Oyarzabal, Alvaro Morata and Rodri Hernandez
After the match, many questioned the future of coach Joachim Low. Because Low's position has caused speculation since he failed to bring Germany to win trophies in the two previous international competitions (Euro 2016 and World Cup 2018).
Appointed as Germany coach after the 2006 World Cup and presented the 2014 World Cup trophy, but his team were surprisingly eliminated in the World Cup group stage in Russia four years later.
However, Germany national team director Oliver Bierhoff was quick to assuage speculation and guaranteed Low's future with Germany. He said the 60-year-old coach would lead the team longer.
When asked if Low would lead his country at the 2020 European Cup rescheduled for next summer, Bierhoff said that Low still had confidence.
"Of course, yes. This game does not change anything. We still trust Joachim Low, no doubt," he said as quoted by Antara from Goal.
"When talking about the national team coach, you have to think and analyze from tournament to tournament. We want to achieve the maximum in the European Cup next year."
"We have to digest this defeat first, it will take time. Everything went wrong. We lost the ball easily and the team fell apart, it shouldn't happen."
"We didn't tackle or maintain possession. We have to learn from this defeat and draw good conclusions."
Flick is said to be a candidate for the coach who will replace Low one day after he won the treble in his first season as Bayern Munich coach.
Hansi Flick was Low's assistant coach in the German national team from 2006 to 2014. However, for now, Low will certainly not lose his position as Germany national team coach.
