Police Officers Discharged Due To Rizieq's Crowd, What About City Satpol PP?

JAKARTA - A number of police officers were removed from their positions because they were considered negligent in enforcing health protocols when a crowd of followers of FPI leader Muhammad Rizieq Shihab occurred. Those who had to be removed from their positions were the Head of the Metro Jaya Police, the West Java Police, the South Jakarta Metro Police, and the Bogor Police Chief.

If the police are affected or they have been hit by the sap, what about the evaluation of the Satpol PP as enforcement officers for the DKI Provincial Government's health protocol?

On this matter, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria said that his party has not planned to evaluate the position of Head of DKI Jakarta Satpol PP.

"It's not that far yet, now it's not a matter of dislodging and taking off, now we are doing a more thorough, total evaluation," said Riza when contacted, Tuesday, November 17.

Riza said that currently the DKI Provincial Government is coordinating with the DKI Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) and the COVID-19 Handling Task Force at the central level to find solutions to handling the corona virus in Jakarta.

"In principle, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has a strong commitment to continue breaking the chain and reducing COVID in Jakarta. We have made various efforts," he said.

Riza considered that the Satpol PP's actions were in accordance with the applicable regulations, namely imposing administrative fines of IDR 50 million due to crowds made by Rizieq and FPI.

"The Satpol PP's job is to curb. They also coordinate with the parties, including the police and other parties," said the Gerindra politician.

"So, no policy has been taken unilaterally. We are the government. The government is coordinating with each other," said Riza.
