During The Flight, Former MA Secretary Nurhadi Was Not Backed By Officials, The KPK Aimed At His Brother
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) revealed that former Secretary of the Supreme Court (MA) Nurhadi was assisted by his brother during his escape.
"Apologies, no. These are their close relatives," said KPK Deputy for Enforcement Karyoto at the KPK Building, Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Tuesday.
For this reason, Karyoto also stated that the KPK leadership in the near future would conduct a case title (exposure).
"We have found one person who later is likely to be based on the collection of evidence. Within the next week, we have already been exposed in front of the leadership, we declare this person as someone who helps the escape or obstructs," said Karyoto.
He stated that those who helped Nurhadi's escape could be subject to the article obstructing the investigation or obstruction of justice as stipulated in Article 21 of the Corruption Eradication Law.
"This will later be categorized as violating Article 21 of the Corruption Eradication Act," said Karyoto.
Article 21 is regulated in Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001.
This article regulates that a person who deliberately prevents, obstructs, or thwarts directly or indirectly the investigation, prosecution and examination at trial of a defendant in a corruption case can be sentenced to a minimum of 3 years and a maximum of 12 years and a maximum fine of Rp. 600 million.
Previously, Nurhadi together with his son-in-law Rezky Herbiyono and PT Multicon Indrajaya Terminal / MIT Director Hiendra Soenjoto have been included in the status of the wanted list (DPO) since 11 February 2020.
The three of them are suspects in cases of bribery and gratification related to cases in the Supreme Court 2011-2016.
Hiendra has been arrested by the KPK team in an apartment in the Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD) area, South Tangerang, Thursday (29/10). Meanwhile, Nurhadi and his son-in-law were arrested by the KPK team at a residence in South Jakarta, Monday, June 1.
Nurhadi and his son-in-law are currently in the trial process at the Corruption Crime Court (Tipikor) in Jakarta.
Nurhadi and his son-in-law were charged with accepting a bribe of Rp.45.726 billion from Hiendra regarding the processing of two lawsuits.
In addition, both of them were also charged with receiving gratuities of IDR 37,287 billion in the 2014-2017 period.
