Police Personnel Receives Award From The United Nations Amid Public Spotlight On The Police For The Ferdy Sambo Case
JAKARTA - The focus is on the handling of the case of Brigadier Joshua's murder involving Inspector General Ferdy Sambo. The good name of the police is now at stake.
In the midst of the polemic of the big case, there are members of the National Police who are actually able to make the Bhayangkara Corps proud, even internationally.
A number of Indonesian National Police personnel received awards from the United Nations for their humanitarian mission in Bangui, Central African Republic. One personnel who received the award was a member of the Aceh Regional Police who served at the Banda Aceh Police, First Brigadier Selly Gabriella.
This was revealed by the Banda Aceh Police Chief, Kombes Joko Krisdiyanto, on Saturday, August 13, 2022. "The UN gives awards to all Polri personnel, one of whom is from the Banda Aceh Police named Brigadier Selly Gabriella," said Joko, as reported by Antara.
First Brigadier Selly became the Indonesian peace police after joining the Garuda Bhayangkara Task Force (Garbha) FPU 3 Minusca contingent since September 2021.
Selly is included in the tactical troops who carry out daily patrols, protect civilians, secure UN assets, and secure the territory of the Central African Republic.
Not only that, the FPU 3 Minusca troops also provide protection to residents in the sector from high danger threats.
While serving in Bangui, Central Africa, they secured vital UN facilities, secured the implementation of police advisors duties, protected civilians, and secured the distribution of humanitarian aid.
"We are very proud because we have the best personnel from the Banda Aceh Police who serve abroad on UN peacekeeping missions," he said.
Joko hopes that in the future there will be other personnel from the Banda Aceh Police who continue missions such as Brigadier Selly.
To note, Indonesia received an international award from the United Nations, the UN Medal. The highest award from the United Nations was directly pinned by the Deputy SRSG (Special Representative of Secretary General) Lizbeth Cullity.
The award is due to the hard work of the Indonesian National Police on humanitarian missions and carrying out high-intensity tasks in Central Africa.
Next is the UN Peacekeeping award. The medal itself is the highest honor from the United Nations for serving as a world peacekeeping force.
Therefore, the United Nations would like to thank the Indonesian National Police personnel who have served for 12 months on the peace mission.
