CIANJUR - The victims of the tornado in Muka Village, Cianjur District, West Java, who were displaced have returned to their respective homes. Residents previously repaired the roofs of damaged houses independently and with assistance from the government.
Secretary of the Cianjur BPBD, Rudi Wibowo said based on field data collection in three RTs in Muka Village, Cianjur District, which were hit by a tornado, there were 26 houses damaged, especially on the roofs that were carried away by the wind.
"After collecting data, we from BPBD provide the assistance needed by residents to repair damaged roofs so they can be occupied again. For 22 families consisting of 44 people who had evacuated, since Saturday afternoon they have returned home," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday. , August 13th.
In anticipation of residents whose roofs were heavily damaged, his party appealed to them to remain evacuated until the repairs were completed. Because it was recorded that there were six houses whose roofs were heavily damaged and took a long time to be repaired.
Head of the Disaster Section of PMI Cianjur, Dodi Permadi, said to ease the burden on residents affected by the tornado, his party had distributed aid in the form of rice and a number of other aids.
"Assistance has been received by representatives of residents who came to the PMI Cianjur Headquarters, we also sent several volunteers to help residents clean their houses and help repair the roofs of damaged houses," he said.
His party also appealed to residents to remain vigilant and evacuate immediately when they saw natural signs that a tornado, flood and landslide would occur because since the last few days most of the Cianjur area, heavy rain had fallen, especially at night.
The Cianjur Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) recorded 22 houses in Muka Village, which were heavily damaged by the tornado that occurred Friday night, no casualties but dozens of family heads were forced to evacuate.
