RI 77th Anniversary Celebration In Batam Holds Sailing Competition, Malaysians And Singaporeans Join The Enliven
BATAM - Residents of the Back District of Padang, Batam City will celebrate the 77th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) by holding a canoe competition. Singaporeans and Malaysians will participate in the celebration.
The sailboat competition will be participated by dozens of teams from islands in the border area. The Sub-District Head of Back Padang, Yudi Admajianto, said that the residents of the neighboring country did not participate, but only watched the competition.
"They all visit the family behind Padang," said Yudi, as quoted from Antara, Saturday, August 13.
"There are already 20 teams that have registered, some from Sugi Island, Pecung Island, Tanjung Pelanduk Island, Bulang Island and the islands around the Back District of Padang," he continued.
However, he did not rule out the possibility that teams from abroad would participate. Brunei Darussalam is reportedly interested in taking part.
"A few days ago there was news that from Brunei there were those who wanted to take part, but maybe on the 17th they just knew for sure whether to participate or not," said Yudi.
Yudi hopes that the activities to enliven this independence day can run smoothly. "Hopefully the weather is good and supportive," he said.
Reportedly, a number of folk games and traditional dances will enliven the Republic of Indonesia (RI) Anniversary on the Border Island which will start from 12-18 August 2022.
"On August 17 in Behind Padang this year it was lively, because it has been two years that there have not been many folk games and dances starting from August 12-18," said Yudi, some time ago.
A number of folk games will be held, such as climbing areca nut in the middle of the sea, clog competitions, tug of war, badminton, sepak takraw, dominoes and others.
"At the peak event or on August 17, there will be a canoe competition and a miner's boat competition between Pulau Behind Padang and Pulau Sambu," he said.
