Called Giving Blessing To Prabowo Subianto In The 2024 Presidential Election, Jokowi: When I Say No, Yes Please

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo responded to the issue that he had given his blessing to Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto to run as a presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election.

"The term, I think, is because I told you, when I said no. No, it's not like that. Yes, please," Jokowi said in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Friday, August 12.

Jokowi said that the democratic system is like that. It is impossible for him as president to say no when a minister conveys his desire to run for the presidential election.

"Please that it is interpreted as a blessing. Yes, go ahead," joked Jokowi.

The names of the General Chairperson of the Gerindra Party DPP Prabowo Subianto and the Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo are expected to run as presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election.

Secretary General of the Gerindra Party DPP Ahmad Muzani said the Gerindra Party National Meeting, which was attended by 8,500 cadres, wanted Prabowo Subianto to run as a presidential candidate. The National Meeting was held at the Sentul International Convention Center, West Java, Friday.

Muzani said that one of the reasons why Gerindra cadres voted unanimously in favor of Prabowo as a presidential candidate was that the former Pangkostrad was considered popular from the survey results and had never shifted from his commitment to maintaining the integrity of the Republic of Indonesia.
