The Ombak Sunset Hotel On Gili Trawangan 'Passed' The Swing Dismantled By KKP: This Is One Of The Icons For A Long Time, Even Until It Was Displayed On Tourism Buses In Australia And England
JAKARTA - The management of the Ombak Sunset Hotel lowered the physical swing building according to the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) regulations which do not allow infrastructure in the core zone of the Gili Trawangan National Water Conservation Area, North Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara.
"Today is the deadline, and it is a ministerial rule that we must follow, we are subject to it, so today, on behalf of the Ombak Group, we submit and lower the existing swing," said General Manager of Ombak Group I Gusti Ngurah Arya Wirawan, in Gili Trawangan, North Lombok Regency, quoted from Antara, Friday, August 12.
He admitted that it was hard to lower the swing. Because the swing is one of the attractions and one of the market values and brand image of tourism in Gili Trawangan in the future.
"It is one of the icons of Gili Trawangan that has existed for a long time. In fact, it is displayed on a tour bus in Australia and England," said Wirawan, while showing a photo of a swing on a tour bus in Australia.
The chairman of the Gili Hotels Association (GHA) Lalu Kusnawan, said what the management of the Ombak Sunset Hotel (Ombak Group) did as an example of tourism business actors in Gili Trawangan in showing something positive to the government.
However, he regretted that the strict enforcement of the rules was carried out when Gili Trawangan was crowded with foreign tourists.
"Why now, if possible later when there is no tourist visit, while we think about what the solution is. I don't mean to go against government rules, but let's find the best solution," he said.
According to Kusnawan, the existence of the swing has become one of the attractions on Gili Trawangan that can be an attraction for tourists. It is also part of the 3A concept of the tourism sector echoed by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, namely attractions, accessibility, and amenities.
"I'm not saying the dyke is not beautiful, the dyke is beautiful but how do we make guests who stay three nights increase to four nights with attractions," said the man who is also the chairman of the Indonesia Hotel General Manager Association (IHGMA) NTB.
Previously, the joint KKP team had advised all hotel managers to lower the swings built in the core zone and the limited use zone of the Gili Trawangan National Water Conservation Area.
The KKP joint team consists of personnel from the Kupang National Water Conservation Area (BKKPN) Gili Matra Working Area, as well as members of the Marine and Fishery Natural Resources Supervision Unit (Satwas) of East Lombok, the Benoa Marine and Fishery Resources Monitoring Base (PSDKP), and Special Police for the Management of Coastal Zone and Small Islands (PWP3K).
