Disaster Alert, South Kalimantan Katingan Police Chief Orders Police Chief To Make Flood Monitoring Video For Information To Residents

KALTENG - Katingan Police Chief, AKBP Paulus Sonny Bhakti Wibowo instructed his staff at the Polsek to always be on standby to monitor flood disasters in their respective areas.

"I ask that all Polsek personnel continue to monitor the development of water discharge in their respective areas," said Sonny in Kasongan, Central Kalimantan (Central Kalimantan), Tuesday, August 9.

He conveyed that he had instructed all ranks to prepare anticipatory steps and be alert if something unexpected happened due to flooding.

The police chiefs were instructed to always coordinate with the sub-district and village heads, as well as all other stakeholders.

"I have ordered the police chiefs to immediately coordinate with the sub-district head and other authorized officials regarding what must be done to help flood-affected residents," he said, according to Antara.

According to him, the police chiefs and staff must be alert and quick to provide assistance, especially when their personnel are needed to help residents evacuate and set up public kitchens and refugee camps.

He also instructed the police chiefs to make a video to ensure the current conditions in the field that describe the condition of the water. This is done as an effort to convey information to the public about each region.

Based on his records, Kamipang and Katingan Kuala Subdistricts based on BMKG predictions have the potential for moderate to heavy rain which can be accompanied by lightning and thunder and strong winds.

"I hope residents remain calm and alert. If you feel the water level is dangerous, don't hesitate to evacuate for safety," said Police Chief Sonny Bhakti Wibowo.

For information, the Katingan Regent Sakariyas has issued a Decree of the Katingan Regent Number 360/375 of 2022 concerning the Determination of the Status of Emergency Response to Flood Disasters in the local area, on Saturday 6 August.

The emergency response is valid for fourteen days from 6-19 August 2022. The decision was made in connection with the results of a field situation study which showed that the flood disaster had disrupted the lives of residents in three sub-districts.
