Women And Crime: How Mike Tyson Wasted $7.44 Trillion In The Twinkling Of An Eye
JAKRTA - There is no denying that Mike Tyson has lived an interesting and controversial life. The former boxer holds the record for being the youngest person to claim a heavyweight title when he beat Trevor Berbick in under five minutes, at just 20 years old.
Tyson is also one of the most feared men on the planet with a record winning 12 of his first 19 professional fights in the first round.
Given his prodigious skills, Tyson has become one of the biggest stars in professional sports, earning more than $500 million in his career.
However, the boxer lost everything because he became a victim of his crimes, including spending money on women.
In Erik Morales and Marco Antonio Barrera's One More Round podcast, the hosts discuss how Tyson was one of the greatest fighters of all time, but how he let his demons overwhelm him.
"He was lost in the greatness of his fame, in the power he gained as a world champion because he was one of the most loved and remembered, he was a money-making machine," the former Mexican boxer was quoted as saying by Marca, Thursday.
Tyson himself explained the matter by stating how he spent his millions on rehabilitation.
"My last million dollars were spent on my rehab because, of the roughly 500 million I made as a boxer, I had nothing left," Tyson said on the Pivot podcast.
"Everything went crazy and lasted between 15 and 16 years, it seemed like a lot of money but it was gone in the end."
Tyson also stated that despite reclaiming some of his wealth, he was not inclined to leave his children with an inheritance.
"What I left for them was the teaching of working hard and praying a lot," Tyson said.
"I will not help them by leaving money, it will hurt them because I will not teach them to fend for themselves, overcome difficulties and work hard.
"By pampering them with money, they will give in to the first difficulty."
