The Thief Who Acted In An Empty House Arrested By The Madiun Police Team
MADIUN - The Madiun City Police Criminal Investigation Unit, East Java, arrested a thief who acted in his jurisdiction when the victim's house was empty.
Head of Criminal Investigation Unit for Madiun City Police, AKP Tatar Hernawan, said the suspect was PP, a resident of Wage Village, Taman District, Sidoarjo Regency. The suspect committed the theft in a resident's house in Kincang Wetan Village, Jiwan District, Madiun Regency on July 9.
"The suspect knew that his house was empty because he had been scouted first. The action was carried out at night and he was the sole perpetrator," said AKP Tatar during a press release reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 9.
According to him, based on the suspect's information and the crime scene, the suspect entered the victim's house, which was empty at the time, through the side of the building towards the back and climbed onto the roof. Then down in the yard.
The suspect then pryed open the window of the house with a crowbar. From this action, the suspect stole the victim's money amounting to Rp. 7 million.
"So the suspect in Madiun lives in a boarding house. He doesn't have a job either. In his action, he first stalks his target. The crime was committed at night and the victim only found out the next day and reported it," he said.
Based on the results of the crime scene and the statements of a number of witnesses, the police managed to apprehend the suspect the day after, July 10, 2022. The suspect PP was arrested by the police while in Madiun City Square.
Apart from the suspect, the police also secured a number of evidences, including a broken window mount, a crowbar, and a motorbike.
For that incident, the suspect was charged with Article 363 paragraph (1) 5e of the KHUP with a threat of seven years in prison. In this incident, Madiun City Police investigators have examined four witnesses.
