Semarang District Court Tried 3 Fake Cigarette Excise Ribbons Manufacturers

SEMARANG - The Semarang District Court, Central Java, tried three defendants who produced fake cigarette excise stamps in the city of Semarang.

Public Prosecutor Niam Firdaus said in a trial at the Semarang District Court that the three defendants had different roles in making the fake excise stamps.

The three defendants, Emil Rifqi, were in charge of receiving orders for excise stamps, Eko Heru Suprapto was in charge of designing excise stamps, and Muhammad Mansur was in charge of printing fake excise stamps.

"The defendant Emil Rifqi obtained a plan to order 36 teams of fake excise stamps from someone who is still in search, but has to produce samples of the excise stamps," he said in the trial chaired by Chief Justice Kukuh Subyakto, reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 9.

In the process of making the sample excise stamps, the defendants managed to print tens of thousands of counterfeit excise stamps of various types.

The fake excise stamps themselves were printed using an Oliver 58 Sakurai 58x44 machine by the defendant Muhammad Mansur.

Of the tens of thousands of counterfeit excise taxes, he said, the potential state losses from excise and value added taxes on tobacco products reached Rp. 241.5 million.

For their actions, the three defendants were charged with Article 55 of Law Number 39 of 2007 concerning Excise.

The trial will be held again next week with the agenda of examining witnesses.
