JAKARTA - West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil wants local people not only to be spectators in the development of the Cirebon, Subang and Majalengka (Rebana) metropolitan areas. Local residents must be in command of the rotation of the economy in the area.
One way this is done is to collaborate with the UK to build a maritime polytechnic to support the capacity of local communities. This international standard maritime polytechnic will be built in the Patimban area, Subang Regency, West Java in 2021.
"We have prepared a maritime polytechnic in the maritime city of Patimban. It is from the UK that it is ready, we just need to determine the location. Next year we will build a polytechnic school," he said, in a virtual webinar, Monday, November 16.
Emil said that the local people who graduated from the maritime polytechnic would later become residents of the City of Patimban with a population of around 1 million.
"So that those who work in one million people have maritime skills in terms of business, technicality, classy engineering. So that there is no longer the term local residents are inadequate, inadequate," he said.
For your information, Rebana Metropolitan is the northern / northeastern region of West Java Province which includes seven regions, namely Sumedang, Majalengka, Cirebon, Subang, Indramayu, and Kuningan districts, as well as the City of Cirebon.
