Fake Pilot Of ASN Fraud In Madiun Arrested By Police
MADIUN - The Madiun City Police Criminal Investigation Unit team, East Java, arrested MR (54) a resident of Mojokerto Regency who claimed to be a Garuda Indonesia pilot and deceived a state civil servant (ASN) into hundreds of millions of rupiah.
Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Madiun City Police, AKP Tatar Hernawan, said that MR's arrest was based on a report from IS (46) an ASN in the Nganjuk Regency Government who was tricked by the suspect by taking away the victim's car, wallet and cellphone.
"This suspect claimed to be a pilot at Garuda Indonesia. They met through social media. Maybe the victim was interested because the suspect claimed to work as a pilot. Then he asked to meet the victim in Madiun, precisely at the Bali Hotel for the night. While the victim was taking a shower, his wallet, cellphone, and the victim's car was taken away by the suspect," Tatar said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 9.
Based on the results of the examination, the fraud began when IS, who was a widow, recognized the suspect through Facebook. The suspect admitted to working as a pilot at Garuda Indonesia. Even to trick the victim, the suspect made a fake identity card as a pilot.
After contacting through social media for some time, the two decided to meet at the Hotel Bali, Madiun City.
The case was reported to the Madiun City Police on June 19, 2022. Meanwhile, the suspect was arrested on July 21 in the Madiun area.
In that case, the suspect took away the victim's Toyota Avanza along with his documents. The suspect MR also stole the victim's cellphone and wallet which contained IDR 950 thousand in cash.
"For the incident, the victim suffered a total loss of around Rp. 108 million," said Tatar.
The suspect and a number of evidences were taken into custody by the police for legal proceedings. The suspect was charged with Article 362 of the Criminal Code concerning theft and carries a five-year prison sentence.
