China Has Built 700,000 BTS 5G Throughout 2020

JAKARTA - At a time when many countries have not fully utilized the telecommunications and internet networks from 5G technology. In fact, China has reportedly built more than 700,000 thousand BTS towers that offer commercial 5G services.

Reporting from the Gizmochina page, Monday, November 16, China claims that 96 percent of the infrastructure of fifth-generation wireless and internet services is almost complete. This means that throughout 2020, China will continue to build BTS towers that support 5G services.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Information Technology of China Liu Liehong said that if the BTS in China, now there are twice as many as the number of 5G BTS towers that will be installed this year around the world.

Last month, China's MIIT or Ministry of Industry and Information has also revealed that more than 690,000 5G base stations are operating in China, and more than 160 million devices are already connected. That number will continue to grow as millions of devices are connected to 5G services.

Liehong explained, to access 5G service access throughout the country, China needs to build at least 10 million BTS towers. The total investment required is around USD 280 billion.

So far, China has indeed become the first country to have adopted the 5G internet network, Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and many more.

This is also what encourages large companies in China, such as Huawei and ZTE, to be keen to develop technology based on 5G services and the next generation. So that it can compete with other countries, such as the United States (US).
