Looked back a little. Super Junior was formed in Seoul, South Korea on November 6, 2005 by producer Lee Soo-man from SM Entertainment. Initially, they debuted with 12 members, consisting of leaders Leeteuk, Heechul, Hangeng, Yesung, Kangin, Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Siwon, Donghae, Ryeowook, and Kibum. Kyuhyun then joined in 2006, but now, they only have nine people left.
Leeteuk et al are the best-selling K-pop artists for four consecutive years. They successfully won 13 music awards from the Mnet Asian Music Awards, 19 from the Golden Disc Awards, and are the second group of singers to win Favorite Artist Korea at the 2008 MTV Asia Awards after jtL in 2003.
In 2012, Super Junior was nominated for Best Asian Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards. Three years later they won International Artist and Best Fandom at the Teen Choice Awards. Their fandom name (fan group) is ELF, which stands for Ever Lasting Friends.
