Asks Political Party Management To Become State Organizers, KPK Chair: Should Be Entered!

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri has asked political party administrators to enter the scope of state administration. He regretted the elites who could not be prosecuted when they were proven to have committed corruption.

"Political party administrators are not included in the state administration. Now, they should be included (as state administrators, ed)," Firli said in Jakarta, Tuesday, August 9.

Firli said that party administrators had not been included in Law No. 28/1999 on State Apparatus Organizers Free from Corruption, Collusion and Nepotism. In fact, they are often found enjoying the results of rasuah.

"To this day, the political party administrators are not included in the state administration," he said.

Even so, the KPK is still trying to prevent corruption. One of them is by providing anti-corruption education to party officials.

It is hoped that without taking action, political party administrators will not receive money from corruption. "Instilling intelligent political values and integrity to regional head candidates, legislative candidates, political party cadres, and political party administrators," said Firli.

Previously, Deputy Chairperson of the KPK Alexander Marwata also asked members of political parties to become state administrators. This request arose because they could not investigate the alleged corruption that ensnared them.

One of them, Chairman of the Election Winning Body (Bappilu) of the Democratic Party, Andi Arief, admitted that he received Rp50 million from the inactive Regent of North Penajam Paser (PPU) Abdul Gafur Mas'ud. The receipt of the money was revealed in court.

Andi admitted that he received money from Abdul Gafur without knowing where it came from. This acceptance is done to help colleagues who are exposed to COVID-19.

"This category of political party administrators is not included in the law, yes, the law on the administration of a clean and corruption-free state. (They, ed) are not included as state administrators," said Deputy Chairman of the KPK Alexander Marwata in Jakarta, Friday, July 21.

The public, continued Alexander, also often highlights the freedom of political party officials. This is because political elites who are not state administrators seem to be free to walk away from punishment even though they receive hot money.

"Indeed, questions like that are asked by the public in general, if so, if Party officials receive money, that's fine. It's as if it's free from the law, right," he said.

Thus, the KPK requested that a study of party management be carried out. Because, they should be able to enter as state administrators to account for their actions if they receive money from corruptors.

"Well, there should be an expansion of the understanding of state administrators. Why? Because we see that the function and role of political parties is very strategic," said Alexander.
