Girls Generation Officially Comeback With Album Release Forever 1
JAKARTA - Girls Generation commemorates its 15th anniversary with a comeback and releases an album entitled "Forever 1."
“Forever 1” is the group's seventh full-length album. The release of the album marks Girls' Generation's project since their previous LP "Holiday Night" five years ago.
“Today is Girls Generation's birthday. Actually, we've been discussing a comeback since we celebrated our 14th anniversary. But we felt we wanted to properly launch the album on the 15th anniversary," Sooyoung said as quoted by the Korea Times, Sunday.
“Forever 1” has a total of 10 songs including the lead single “Forever 1”. In addition, the album also has other songs such as "Seventeen" and "Villain," in which members Tiffany and Sooyoung participated in writing the lyrics, as well as "Lucky Like That," "You Better Run," "Closer" and "Mood Lamp." .
Girls Generation is an iconic K-pop girl group known as "hallyu" or a group that stands at the forefront of the global explosion of Korean pop culture. The group has also released many hits, such as "Into The New World," "Kissing You," " Whoa," "Genie," "OH!," The Boys," "I Got a Boy," "Mr.Mr.," "Party" and "Lion Heart".
However, the group went on hiatus after members Tiffany, Sooyoung and Seohyun left SM Entertainment in October 2017. Since then, they have focused on various individual activities, including careers as actors and K-pop soloists.
Therefore, Girls' Generation's comeback will be remembered as an important event in K-pop history as it marks the end of the group's extended hiatus.
“'Lucky Like That' was the first song we recorded for this album, and I was the last member to record it. Listening to the voices of my bandmates after a long time, I suddenly became emotional," YoonA recalled, as reported by Antara.
On the other hand, Sooyoung said she didn't realize how precious the time she had with her bandmates was, before the reunion.
“Before, we were all in the same agency, so we had plenty of time to play together whenever we wanted. But now, because we are focused on individual activities, our time together is very precious."
When asked about the secret to the band's longevity, Taeyeon said, "To be honest, it's not easy to gather opinions from eight women, but what they have in common is that they love the band. Having a common goal is what brought us this far."
The album "Forever 1" is scheduled for a physical release on Monday August 8, 2022.
