Qualifying For The 2022 AFF U-16 Cup Semifinals, The Indonesian National Team Gets A Bonus Of IDR 100 Million
JAKARTA - PSSI gave a bonus of Rp. 100 million for the U-16 national team for making it to the semifinals of the 2022 AFF U-16 Cup after beating Vietnam 2-1 in the last match of Group A, Saturday night, at the Maguwoharjo Stadium, Sleman, Yogyakarta.
"A bonus of Rp. 100 million, yes, for them. Not bad," said PSSI General Chair Mochamad Iriawan after the match.
According to Iriawan, the Garuda Asia players have shown good performance throughout the group phase, especially when they beat Vietnam.
He was impressed by the spirit of the Milky Way team who caught up one goal to win the match.
Indonesia fell behind to a Nguyen Cong Phuong penalty in the 42nd minute before turning things around in the second half thanks to goals from Arkhan Kaka and Muhammad Nabil Asyura.
"Our two goals were classy, resulting from good cooperation. For the Vietnam penalty, I don't think it needs to happen. Therefore, the coach still has to evaluate," said Iriawan.
Indonesia became the first team to qualify for the semifinals of this tournament to face the winning team in Group C at the Maguwoharjo Stadium, at 20.00 WIB.
In Group C, three teams have a chance to make it to the top four, namely Malaysia, Myanmar and Cambodia.
Iriawan emphasized that the U-16 national team would be ready to face anyone in the top four.
"We are ready. Just pray," he said.
In line with Iriawan, the coach of the Indonesian U-16 national team, Bima Sakti, also stated that his squad would not choose opponents in the semifinals.
"Whoever the opponent is, we will continue to fight," said Bima.
