After Being Officially In Jail, Roy Suryo's Twitter Account And Cellphone Were Confiscated By The Police
JAKARTA - The former Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Roy Suryo was officially arrested as a suspect in the case of the Borobudur Temple stupa meme similar to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). The police confiscated his Twitter account as evidence.
"Some of the evidence confiscated by investigators related to this crime is the Twitter account of Roy Suryo's brother which was used to upload the criminal matter," said Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes E. Zulpan to reporters, Friday, August 5.
The account that was seized was none other than @KRMTRoySuryo2. Because, that's the account Roy used when uploading the meme that was the subject of the case.
In addition, investigators also confiscated the telematics expert's cell phone. The reasons are similar.
Roy Suryo is being held at the Polda Metro Jaya detention center for the next 20 days. The reason behind the detention was because investigators were worried that the telematics expert would run away and lose evidence.
That reason is also stated in Article 21 Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
"This is done because there are concerns from investigators losing evidence and so on," said Zulpan.
In this case, Roy Suryo was charged with Article 28 Paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 45 Paragraph 2 of Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning ITE. Then Article 156a of the Criminal Code and Article 15 of Law Number 1 of 1946 concerning criminal law regulations.
