After Being Questioned 3 Times, Roy Suryo Was Finally Arrested In The Borobudur Temple Stupa Meme Case
JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya has decided to arrest the former Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Roy Suryo in the case of the Borobudur Temple stupa meme that resembles President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). The new detention was carried out after going through three examinations as a suspect.
"Investigators have decided tonight against Roy Suryo's brother as a suspect in the hate speech case. Starting tonight, he will be detained," said Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Kombes E. Zulpan, to reporters, Friday, August 5.
Roy Suryo's arrest was allegedly because some time ago he was caught participating in a car community activity. In fact, he told investigators he was sick.
However, Zulpan stated that the reason behind the detention was because investigators were worried that the telematics expert would run away and lose evidence.
That reason is also stated in Article 21 Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
With this decision, Roy Suryo had to languish behind bars at the Polda Metro Jaya detention center for 20 days.
"This is done because there are concerns from investigators losing evidence and so on," said Zulpan.
Roy Suryo had originally been questioned twice as a suspect. Examinations took place on Friday, July 22 and Thursday, July 28.
However, in the two examinations, Roy Suryo always claimed that he was sick. In fact, use a neck brace.
