The Election Hasn't Started Yet But There Are Political Parties That Lie About Their Cadre Identity

JAKARTA - The General Election Commission (KPU) found that there were 98 names of election organizers, both commissioners and secretariats of the provincial KPU and regency/municipal KPU, who were designated as cadres of political parties.

This is revealed in the list of political party memberships filled in through the Political Party Information System (Sipol). Sipol is one of the platforms for collecting data on political parties that will become candidates for the 2024 General Election.

"There are 98 election organizers in the regions who have submitted complaints that their names are on the list of political party memberships in the Sipol application," said KPU commissioner Idham Holik to reporters, quoted on Friday, August 5.

In fact, said Idham, these 98 election organizers never had a membership card of a political party or had never volunteered to become a member of a political party.

Therefore, the KPU will ask for clarification from a number of parties that use the names of the election organizers as their cadres. This is based on the provisions contained in Article 32 paragraph 1 PKPU Number 4 of 2022.

"In PKPU Number 4 of 2022, if an election organizer is found to be a member of a political party, it is declared that he is potentially ineligible and will be clarified to the political party to ensure the truth and validity of the list of members' names," explained Idham.

Furthermore, Idham said that initially the 98 people had checked independently through the website info.pemilu.kpu.go.id as a form of community participation. This is regulated in Article 140 paragraph PKPU No. 1 Year 2022.

Then, it was revealed that the names of the 98 election organizers had been named as party cadres. They are spread over 22 provinces with details of 4 provincial KPU secretariat personnel from PPNPN elements, 22 regency/city KPU commissioners, and 72 district/city KPU secretariat personnel.

"The 98th data is provisional and based on information compiled by the Provincial KPU on information submitted independently by those (election organizers) whose names are on the membership list of political parties even though according to them they have never submitted an application for processing the issuance of KTA for political parties. " he added.
