Akhyar Nasution: Whatever Story, Garbage Must Be Money

MEDAN - Candidate for Mayor of Medan Akhyar Nasution talked about the concept of Medan Cantik. This program emphasizes the need for public awareness to protect the environment such as waste management and ensure that you no longer littering.

Akhyar Nasution said the #yokbikincantikmedan movement was closely related to waste management. Such as the manufacture of charcoal briquettes initiated by Rena Simbolon and also the development of Maggot in Marelan.

"Anything you want to tell, waste has to turn into money. If not, then it will be a problem. That means we have to start this waste management," said Akhyar as quoted from a written statement, Saturday, November 14.

Not only that, Akhyar - Salman in the future will add green open space in this city. One of them is using the existing shop houses to become a rooftop garden.

"We have a lot of shop houses in Medan, so we will make the existing shop houses a roof garden, as water retention, so that the water does not immediately go down into the ditch," said Akhyar.

To stimulate citizens to realize this concept, the candidate for mayor number 1 in the Medan Pilkada will start with the provision of incentives.

"For example, we give UN discounts to citizens who adopt this," he said.

Akhyar Nasution today met with environmental activist who won the 2003 Kalpataru award for the category of Environmental Development, Paris Sembiring. Paris supports the #yokbikincantikmedan Akhyar movement who paired up with Salman Alfarisi in the Medan elections.

"I see that his care and leadership need not be doubted, because by chance we often meet at Adiwiyata schools or at environmental activities," said Paris.

"From earlier we talked a lot about how in the future to preserve the city of Medan better, more beautiful Medan. So, we hope that in the future he can still lead this city of Medan," he continued.

Therefore, Paris hopes that in the future Medan City can achieve Adipura and get a lot of community involvement.

"Environmental cadres will be created in each district, so that later we can win Adipura again," he hoped.
