Able To Produce Clear Images Despite Backlight, Take A Peek At MariSiliconera's NPU Advantages

KokJAKARTA - Advances in technology are now able to create extraordinary products. One example of a product that always follows technological developments is a smartphone.

Many smartphone brands are competing to offer the latest features using new technologies. One of the important elements in smartphone technology is the Neural Processing Unit (NPU).

Launching from Opengenus, NPU is a microprocessor that specializes in accelerating Machine Learning algorithms, usually by operating on predictive models. It is also known as a neural processor.

One of the NPU innovations in the smartphone world is MariSilicon X. MariSilicon X is a chipset launched by the electronics company Oppo Electronics Corp.

The company said that the MariSilicon X NPU is the first imaging technology they have developed, where RAW processing can be performed in real-time so that users can record videos using the 4K AI Night Video feature and display live previews of stunning quality.

MariSilicon X is based on 6 nm fabrication technology and delivers highly efficient AI computing power of up to 18 Trillion Operations per Second (18 TOPS). MariSilicon X also performs AI noise reduction on 4K 30fps video with an 11.6x increase in power efficiency

"By performing real-time, lossless processing in the RAW domain, MariSilicon X can perform advanced AI processing to capture 4K video with an ultra dynamic range of up to 20 bits," said Aryo Meidianto A, PR Manager of OPPO Indonesia for OPPO Reno, A, and IoT on Wednesday, August 3 in Jakarta.

Apart from 4K Ultra Night Video, MariSilicon X also allows capturing 4K Ultra HDR Video using the back camera, even with very strong backlight.

In addition, the company claims that MariSilicon X is built on a 6nm process technology, which combines an advanced NPU, ISP and multi-tier memory architecture.

MariSilicon X has dedicated DDR with up to 8.5 GB/s extra bandwidth. Its multi-tier memory architecture greatly minimizes delays and reduces power consumption.

Then, with the latest ISP (Image Signal Processing) technology found in the chipset, it allows their camera to capture images with a dynamic range four times higher than their previous cellphone products.

"In collaboration with the SoC, MariSilicon X delivers 4K Ultra-clear Video on the rear camera. In 4K Ultra-clear Video mode, image clarity is 4 times higher than 1080P video. What's more, HDR Fusion and AINR algorithms help increase the dynamic range of night videos by 42.9%," he added. The MariSilicon X NPU will be used in the Oppo Reno 8 Pro 5G model.
