Hopes For Naming The MH Thamrin Stadium Have Not Run Away Must JIS Already Grand Lauching, Betawi Historian: No Inscription Signed
JAKARTA - Betawi historian JJ Rizal admitted that he still hopes that DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan will change the name of Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) to MH Thamrin Stadium.
Even though Anies had held the JIS Grand Launching on July 24, Rizal saw that it did not rule out the possibility that Anies could change the name of the international class stadium.
"Hope has not been dashed. We feel that on July 24 the governor only inaugurated the new stadium building in Jakarta, but has not given it a name," Rizal said in a short message, Friday, August 5.
Observing Anies' speech at the JIS Grand Launching, Rizal saw no firm statement that JIS was the official name of the Rp 4.5 trillion stadium. Moreover, according to him, there is no signature of the inscription that legalizes the naming of JIS.
"There is no inscription signing ceremony as is usually the case for the inauguration of buildings, especially mega project buildings. Therefore, we remain confident that the building deserves the name MH Thamrin and the governor is waiting for the right time to name it that way. important value," said Rizal.
Rizal revealed that he and a number of supporters of the naming of the MH Thamrin Stadium would invite the public to understand that the government needs to name the monumental building after a figure like MH Thamrin.
"We will continue to invite the public to understand how meaningful it is for a large building that is the result of great work to get an inspiring big name. Instead of selling it to brands or sponsors, we consider the new stadium building to be the dignity of the citizens of Jakarta, what will happen to a city whose dignity is even commercialized," " he said.
Initially, JJ Rizal made a petition to change the name of JIS to MH Thamrin Stadium which was published on the change.org page some time ago.
Seeing no response, Rizal had come to DKI City Hall and intercepted Anies who was going to attend a plenary meeting to commemorate Jakarta's 495th anniversary.
The submitted petition is wrapped in a cardboard box. When Rizal handed it over, Anies immediately received the box. However, Anies emphasized that the proposal in this petition was not necessarily granted.
"Thank you. Accepted first. Not necessarily approved," said Anies at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday, June 22.
"Accommodated, Mr. Anies, his aspirations," said Rizal after submitting the petition.
"Definitely accommodated. Agree or not, the considerations will be different," Anies replied, before heading to the plenary room of the DKI Jakarta DPRD building with the Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria.
Rizal had hoped that Anies would agree to his proposal and announce the name change at the JIS Grand Launching on July 24. However, until now Rizal's wish has not been fulfilled by Anies.
