Can Evan Holyfield Be The Heir To Evander's Father In Boxing?
JAKARTA - Born in 1997, Eleazar Evan Holyfield follows in the footsteps of his father Evander. Better known as Evan, he is one of Evander's 11 children by six different women.
Launching Marca, Friday, Holyfield Jr made his professional debut in 2019 in the bout before the main duel between Canelo Alvarez and Sergey Kovalev at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Paradise, Nevada.
He beat Nick Wenstead 16 seconds into the first round by technical knockout to claim his first professional boxing win, with Evander watching the fight as the proud father of the first row.
The next bout took place in Houston where Evan grabbed an impressive third-round win against Henry Mendez. Evan's third consecutive win came by knockout, as he beat Travis Nero in just 82 seconds.
Then, he beat Dylan Carlson after four rounds and his current record is 9-1, with six of these wins coming by knockout.
His only loss occurred on May 14, 2002, where he lost to Jurmain McDonald in round 2. This result raised some eyebrows because, according to Yahoo Sports, McDonald's profession is an electrician.
"Blessed to be in good health, and it's a good punch indefinitely," Evan wrote on Twitter after his loss.
"Hopefully I don't disappoint a lot of people, but I promise to make up for it. For sure I still have my sights on becoming a world champion!"
