Pipe Leakage In Cilacap, Pertamina Guarantees Safe Fuel Stock
JAKARTA - Pertamina's fuel oil (BBM) pipeline in Lengkong Hamlet, Jeruklegi Kulon Village, Jeruklegi District, Cilacap Regency, Central Java, leaked.
Area Manager of Communication, Relations, & Corporate Social Responsibility for the Central Java Region of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Brasto Galih Nugroho said Pertamina was investigating the cause of the incident.
The focus is on handling pipe leaks in collaboration with related parties.
"The incident occurred during the work on the Cilacap-Bandung (CB) 3 fuel pipeline project on Wednesday morning," Brasto said as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 3.
Furthermore, Brasto said, the fuel stock is safe.
His party will mitigate and divert fuel supply from other Fuel Terminals if needed.
"This is a new pipe job but it hit the old pipe," said Brasto.
Meanwhile, PT Hutama Karya (Persero) Agung Suroyo, Community Development for the CB3 BBM Pipeline Project, said that his party immediately went to the location as soon as they received a report of a leak.
According to him, currently the leak point has been found and is in the process of being repaired.
"God willing, today (Wednesday 3) if the update has been fixed, we will inform you," he said.
When asked about the alleged leak, Agung was reluctant to provide further explanation because he was still waiting for coordination with the leadership.
Nevertheless, he said, the leak occurred in the old pipeline because by chance the CB3 pipeline project was used to distribute diesel fuel.
"This new pipe (CB3) is for Solar and the one that came out is not a type of Solar. Maybe between CB1 or CB2," said Agung.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Cilacap Regency, Wijonardi said, based on reports, the leak of fuel on the banks of the Jambu River, Lengkong Hamlet, Jeruklegi Kulon Village, was first discovered by residents at 04.30 WIB.
At that time, he said, residents smelled fuel and after checking it turned out to be coming from the Jambu River, which the fuel pipe installation project passed.
"We BPBD are ready to help calm residents from worrying. Everything is handled professionally," said Wijonardi.
