A Thousand Fried Rice Plates A La Chef Firli Are Not Enough Filling For KPK
JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri may be proud of his famous fried rice when he was Kapolda West Sumatra. However, for the former KPK leader, Bambang Widjojanto, Firli's action of frying rice in front of the Supervisory Board and structural officials was not enough to fill the stomach of the anti-corruption institution in fighting corruption.
"Believe me, you will not be able to finish off corruption with your thousands of fried rice because what you need to fry until it is burnt, charred and dry is the corruptors, not rice," Bambang told reporters in his written statement, Tuesday, January 21.
Instead of cooking fried rice, this Jakarta TGUPP member said Firli should 'process' and 'cook' anti-corruption ingredients through a strategic program and be firm when dealing with corruptors. Moreover, currently the danger of corruption is massive and real in society.
Bambang also said that Firli did not need to show off his cooking skills in front of reporters. Because, apart from the two things mentioned above, this leader of the Bhayangkara Corps element should defend the honor of KPK investigators and investigators who recently felt as if they were being defeated by corruptors.
"That is what must be defended, not (they) are treated to naive celebratory behavior which is not important at all," he said.
The former KPK leader for the 2011-2015 period also reminded Firli that this anti-graft agency should remain strong and not fall down when facing corruptors. "Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission, today, your main task is to turn on the guts of the Corruption Eradication Commission against corruptors and not to kill all the KPK personnel in the presence of corruptors, the eternal enemy of life," said Bambang.
KPK will work hard
Bambang's harsh criticism was then answered by the Acting Spokesperson for the KPK in the field of prosecution Ali Fikri. He said that cooking fried rice by Firli was an event held in an effort to establish communication with reporters and other structural officials including the KPK Supervisory Board to strengthen corruption eradication.
"Of course, (doing) corruption eradication cannot be done alone, but it must be done together," Ali told reporters at the KPK's Red and White House, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, January 21.
The KPK public prosecutor (JPU) also said that the strategy problem as mentioned by Bambang is actually no longer in doubt. Because, at this time the most important thing is the work result of the existing strategy and has been confirmed since the beginning, the leadership for the 2019-2023 period is chosen.
"Strategy, vision, mission, plans, commitments, policies have been emphasized many times since the beginning. We say we prove it with work, that's what is important," he said.
This performance, even referred to by Ali, has at least been proven considering that since two months of being inaugurated, the KPK has named a number of suspects in corruption cases.
"It is clear, several days of KPK leadership have been named suspects and the process is running well for investigation and investigation," he said while asking the public to wait for them to provide evidence regarding the eradication of corruption.
"Give the opportunity to prove it in the future, of course the public can assess and we can see how it is going forward," he concluded.
