Dismantling A Dim Cafe That Employs Underage Children
JAKARTA - The police uncovered a prostitution case at the Kayangan cafe in the Rawa Bebek area, Penjaringan, North Jakarta. In this place, 10 minors are used as prostitutes to satisfy the lust of male masher.
The cafe has been operating for two years. The police only raided him on Monday, January 13. This raid was carried out by members of the Police Sub-directorate Renakta (child and women's violence) Polda Metro Jaya.
Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Yusri Yunus said that six people were named as suspects in this case. They have the initials R aka mami Atun, A aka mami Tuti, D alias Febi, TW, A and E.
Of the five people named as suspects, four of them were pimps and suppliers or providers of minors who would serve as comfort women. The comfort women recruited were around 14 to 18 years old.
"So two (suspects) D and TW looked for (minors) to a certain location and then sold them to two mothers (with the initials) R and A for Rp. 750-1.5 million," said Yusri in Jakarta, Tuesday, January 21.
To deceive the victims, suspects D and TW used the mode of job vacancies on social media with the lure of high salaries.
After being recruited, the victims came under the control of R and A. They were placed in the shelter, which was inside the dim cafe. The victims cannot escape. Because, if they run, they will be fined.
"So these munciaries make regulations. For example, if a day does not serve at least 10 guests, they will be fined Rp50 thousand for each lack," said Yusri.
Meanwhile, Kasubdit Renakta AKBP Piter Yanottama added that the two suspects who played pimps treated the victims quite sadistically.
For example, victims who are sick will not be given treatment. If they are very sick, pimps will send them back to their hometowns without giving them treatment.
In addition, while working, the cafe maids were forced to take medicine to prevent menstruation.
"So when they want to menstruate they are given medicine. Take pills, so they are restrained," said Piter.
Regarding the salary received by the servants, it was not what was promised. To serve guests once, pimps set a price of IDR 150 thousand for each customer. Meanwhile, the servants only received Rp. 60 thousand.
The servants there were also threatened not to quit this job. If they stop, the pimps will ask for a fine of Rp1.5 million.
"The payment is IDR 150 thousand per one time, accompanying the distribution of IDR 60 thousand for this child (the victim) which she will pay at the end of the month. The rest is for her mother," said Piter.
