Google Photos Storage Is No Longer Free

JAKARTA - Google recently announced that it will end the free storage program on Google Photos in June 2021. This means that users will no longer be able to store photos for free.

According to a 9to5Google report, Friday, November 13, Google Photo users will still be given 15GB of storage. After that they have to subscribe to the Google One storage plan, in case they run out of space or want to add it.

The Google One subscription fee is currently priced at US $ 1.99 or Rp.29 thousand per month for 100GB capacity. If the user has a lot of photos or videos, it looks like they should try to subscribe to this.

There are exceptions for Google Pixel users, however. Where Google says that Pixel device owners will still be able to back up their photo files for free, for a period of time.

"If you have a Pixel 5 or earlier device, your current backup quality options and benefits remain unchanged. Upload in High quality from your Pixel 2-5 device will continue to receive unlimited free storage," Google wrote in a blog post.

"However, photos and videos that are backed up from other devices in high quality after June 1, 2021 will start using your Google Account storage," he continued.

Please note, the Google Photos service allows users to save or back up photo and video files. The photos or videos are saved in the same high quality as the original files.

In fact, according to the blog post, more than 4 trillion photos are already stored on Google Photos, with over 28 billion new photos and videos uploaded each week. In June, Google will also provide a refresher on the application.
