Instagram Creates Survey For US Users On Their Ethnicity And Race
JAKARTA - A few days ago Instagram announced that it would conduct a survey to Instagram users in the United States.
The survey, conducted by YouGov, an international research group, will safely ask communities about their race and ethnicity.
Meta reveals that answers from users will be collected by YouGov and will not be leaked. The data will then be encrypted and divided into sections for storage across partner research institutes.
Instagram says they can't link people or their Instagram accounts to their individual responses, so the survey was conducted anonymously.
Instagram is also working with Texas Southern University, University of Central Florida, Northeastern University, and Oasis Labs as partner research institutes.
These agencies will receive separate responses from YouGov, and then share the combined analysis with Instagram.
Not for anything else, Meta says that this survey was held just to better understand the experiences different communities have on Instagram.
That way, the company will look for ways how its technology can affect different groups.
"The analysis we do with this information can help us better understand the experiences different communities may have with how we rank content," the company said.
Please note that this survey is 100% optional, meaning you are not required to take it. Then, Meta confirms that this survey will not be shared with anyone.
Responses will be deleted by YouGov after 30 days and by Texas Southern University, University of Central Florida, Northeastern University, and Oasis Labs upon request.
