Protests Rise Against Increase In Ticket Prices To Komodo, NTT Police Send Additional Personnel To Safeguard Labuan Bajo
KUPANG - The East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police have sent Brimob personnel from the NTT Police to assist with security in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, after various rallies from tourism actors related to the increase in the price of admission to Komodo Island.
"The Regional Police have sent additional members to create a sense of security for the public and tourists who travel to a number of tourist areas in Labuan Bajo," said NTT Police Chief Inspector General Setyo Budiyanto via WhatsApp message in Kupang, Antara, Sunday, July 31 evening.
This was stated when he confirmed the information regarding the massive departure of the Mobile Brigade Police personnel of the NTT Police who were assigned to maintain security in the super-priority tourist area.
However, the number one person at the NTT Police did not mention the exact number of Brimob personnel from the NTT Police who left for Labuan Bajo.
It was said by the Kapolda that the number of Brimob Polda NTT personnel sent for BKO in Labuan Bajo was still reasonable.
"It's still reasonable. There are also many locations or tourist attractions and tourists who come to Labuan Bajo," he said.
The two-star commander added that the current situation in Labuan Bajo is still conducive. However, to further ensure the safety and security of the public and tourists, it is necessary to add personnel in the area.
"Adding personnel in Labuan Bajo is deemed necessary in order to create a good public order situation," he said.
Previously, a number of tourist actors in Labuan Bajo held rallies at a number of Labuan Bajo points in the last few days to reject the increase in the price of admission to Komodo Island, which was originally Rp. 150 thousand to Rp. 3.75 million per person.
