Fans Want Boomerang To Rise Again, This Is What The Former Personnel Said

JAKARTA - Many people want the rock band from Surabaya, Boomerang, to be able to revive or enliven the country's rock music scene again. This hope is especially loudly voiced by Boomerang fans, who are familiarly called Boomers.

At least this was revealed at the Indonesian Boomers Gathering event held at Villa Coolibah, Puncak Area, Cianjur, West Java some time ago.

Attended by a number of former Boomerang personnel, including John Paul Ivan, Faried Martin, and Andi Babas as well as Louretta Limahelu, wife of the late Hubert Henry Limahelu, this event was full of intimacy.

In the discussion session at the gathering, one of the participants asked, is there a possibility that Boomerang can reunite again? Please note, Boomerang's condition is currently empty or no longer has personnel, after the death of the bassist, Hubert Henry, who died last year as the last member because the other members had resigned first.

John Paul Ivan, the guitarist for Boomerang from 1994-2005 who was also one of the initiators of the formation of Lost Angel, the band that was the forerunner of Boomerang, explained that Boomerang now belongs to all, both fans and music lovers.

"After Henry's death, I and the others (former personnel) no longer have the right to what Boomerang will look like in the future, because they have become outsiders or part of an outside party (of Boomerang)," he said, quoted from an official statement received by the editors.

According to the curly-haired man, he appreciates all Boomers everywhere who continue to echo the works of Boomerang. "I thank you very much, because I still love Boomerang until now, and are loyal to be Boomers, especially those who participate in their community. I really salute their loyalty," said Ivan, who is currently the guitarist for Take Over.

Regarding the Boomerang reunion, Ivan said that he could not predict when it could happen because there had to be a mutual agreement. "So, there must be talk first from all parties, including former personnel. It can't be one-sided. Right now, let it run and flow, everlasting, by continuing to support and enjoy all the works of Boomerang that have ever existed," he added.

Meanwhile, Faried Martin Badjeber, Boomerang's drummer for the period 1994-2020, conveyed the same thing. The current path of the Boomerang is a fate that must be accepted by all. "Personally, I really respect the efforts that have been made by the Boomers so far, including holding gatherings every year to establish friendship," he said.

Furthermore, according to Faried, the current Boomers should still be grateful because the former Boomerang personnel are still working in the music world. "So, now you have many choices to be able to enjoy our works (former Boomerang personnel)," he said.

However, he also reminded the Boomers to respect the works of former Boomerang personnel at this time. "Because what we produce requires a lot of effort, time, energy and thought. We also have to be ethical in social media, for example, if one of us is promoting his work, there is no need for negative comments. If you don't like it, just leave it," he said.

On the same occasion, Andi Babas as the vocalist of Boomerang for the 2014-2020 period briefly stated, he thanked the Boomers who until now have remained standing, compact, and maintaining their friendship. "Just pray, that Boomerang will continue to be the best band," he said.

On the other hand, the wife of the late Hubert Henry, Louretta expressed hope that the Boomerang could rise again. "I see and feel, Boomerang has become the flesh and blood of Mas Henry. He still stands for this band (Boomerang), no matter the obstacles. Before he died, he really wanted all (former personnel) to return, so Boomerang still exists," he explained.
