Television Broadcast Captures Image Of Chinese Warplanes With Mysterious Missiles

JAKARTA - Chinese warplanes are fitted with a new type of missile. However, the missile is still mysterious.

Nobody knows whether the missile is anti-radiation or the latest long-range air missile. This news was first discovered through the Weihutang news broadcast, a military program affiliated with CCTV, the local official broadcast media, Wednesday, November 11.

In the report, it was explained that the People's Liberation Army Air Force had installed a new type of missile that had never been displayed in public before. Unfortunately, the recorded video broadcasts did not show good enough quality to clearly identify the type of missile.

The Ordnance Industry Science Technology magazine, on Tuesday, November 10, explained the types of missiles that might be installed on the planes. First, it is a long-range missile that can shoot down multiple targets, such as early warning aircraft and air tankers or anti-radiation missiles similar to the United States (US) AGM-88G.

Anti-radiation missiles are a type of weapon used in radio emission sources, such as radar. If it were an anti-radiation missile, according to the magazine's analysis, it would be a perfect fit for the latest Chinese fighter jets such as the J-16D which is a development of the J-16.

The J-16D will be equipped with electronic devices and capable of air-to-air or air-to-ground weapons. The magazine, which is headquartered in Xi'an, claims the large capacity of the weapons makes the J-16D fighter more powerful than the US Navy's EA-18G.
