Attorney General: Public Prosecutors' ASN Must Be Neutral In 2024 Election

JAKARTA - Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin said the state civil apparatus (ASN) of the Prosecutor's Office must remain neutral by maintaining monoloyalty (single loyalty) to the nation and state in the face of political polarization ahead of the 2024 General Election.

"In the face of hegemony and political polarization in welcoming the democratic party later, all Public Prosecutors' ASN must remain neutral by maintaining monoloyalty to the nation and state based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia," said Burhanuddin in a statement quoted by ANTARA, Friday, 29 July.

In welcoming the political year, said Burhanuddin, more or less will be colored with the issue of ASN neutrality, including the ASN of the Prosecutor's Office.

Burhanuddin said the position of ASN in the Prosecutor's Office in its position as a public servant and executor of the government in the field of law enforcement cannot be separated from the public spotlight because it is able to mobilize the social and political potential around it.

"I give an example of a head of a work unit in a region with control in his jurisdiction, of course, he has a great opportunity to take actions that violate the principle of neutrality," said Burhanuddin.

Therefore, Burhanuddin reminded that it is obligatory for ASN AGO to maintain neutrality, especially ahead of the democratic party in 2024.

The statement was delivered in a briefing held at the West Sumatra High Prosecutor's Hall. On this occasion, Burhanuddin reminded the basic values that must be held and actualized in every ASN of the Attorney General's Office, as the core values of ASN.

"To the Head of the High Prosecutor's Office (Kajati), the Assistant for Development (Asbin), and the Heads of the District Attorney (Kajari), and the Head of the Subdivision of Development (Kasubagbin) must instill and direct the values of ASN with NATURE," continued the Attorney General.

Meanwhile, the values of ASN with ABILITY include Public Service Orientation, Accountability, Competence, Harmonious, Loyal, Adaptive, and Collaborative.
