Confident Erling Haaland Will Soon "Sign Up" With Premier League, Phil Foden: He's Very Similar To Aguero
JAKARTA - Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden believes his new team-mate, Erling Haaland, will soon "tune in" and quickly adapt to the English Premier League while calling him a "scary" figure in front of goal.
Haaland, who joined City from Borussia Dortmund on a five-year deal last month, showed off a glimpse of his scoring prowess with a late finish in the 1-0 pre-season win over Bayern Munich earlier this week.
The 22-year-old's signing also ends City's hunt to replace their all-time leading goalscorer Sergio Aguero after the Argentine striker moved to Barcelona on a free last year.
"He's a great addition to the team, makes everyone laugh and is humble which is important when you come to a team," Foden told Sky Sports on Thursday. "He is hungry to achieve something with us which can only mean good things.
"In front of goal he's scary. He's come to a completely different league (with) much faster football, so maybe he needs a little (time) to get used to it, but I'm sure when he's in his flow he's unstoppable.
"He is very similar to Aguero, Haaland also has all kinds of finishing. If we can give him the ball in the right areas, he will be very important for us this year," he continued as quoted by Reuters from Reuters.
City, who face FA Cup winners Liverpool in the Community Shield on Saturday, start to defend their Premier League title with a trip to West Ham United on August 7.
