House Of The Dragon, Game Of Thrones Prequel About King Viserys Seeking An Heir To The Throne
JAKARTA - Game of Thrones is back in a prequel format titled House of the Dragon with new players. The new showrunners, who take over from David Benioff and DB Weiss, are Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapochnik.
"There's been a lot of prosperity, there's been peace for half a century and the great thing is that it's a story about a house that is torn apart. It's about a house that is falling apart from the inside," Condal said.
The story begins with King King Viserys Targaryen played by Paddy Considine considering who will be the heir to the throne, his younger brother Prince Daemon (Matt Smith) or his daughter, Princess Rhaenyra (Emma D'Arcy).
However, a new potential challenger for the throne appeared. Olivia Cooke plays Alicent Hightower, Princess Rhaenyra's longtime best friend, who marries the king after his wife dies in childbirth. Cooke enjoys the tense scene between him and D'Arcy that appears in the video footage.
"It's really fun because acting with Emma is like dealing with (boxer) Mike Tyson. I really love them... on screen we look like we hate each other but I really like them," Cooke said as quoted by ANTARA.
Rhys Ifans, who plays Alicent's father, said he was optimistic about the future of the series.
